Adventure motorcycle helmets: the ones we recommend

For tarmac and gravel: the ventilation and vision of an off-road helmet with the visor of a road helmet.

An adventure helmet combines the best of a road full-face and an off-road helmet: a visor for the tarmac, a peak that blocks sun and branches, and a forward chin bar that breathes better at low speed on gravel.

What to look for:

  • An aerodynamic peak: on the motorway, a poorly designed peak catches the wind and tires your neck.
  • Ventilation: off-road you go slowly and sweat a lot.
  • An internal sun visor: not all have one.
  • Pinlock: essential in cold and wet weather.

The catch: they are noisier than a road full-face. If you mostly ride motorways, a touring full-face is more comfortable; if you go off the tarmac, an adventure helmet is the natural choice.
