What they share
- ECE 22.06 approval.
- Internal sun visor and Pinlock included.
- A fibre shell (AIM on the Shoei, PIM+ with carbon, glass and aramid on the HJC).
Shell sizes: advantage HJC
The RPHA 71 comes in four shell sizes; the GT-Air 3 in three. In very small or very large sizes, the HJC is a little better proportioned.
Weight
HJC claims around 1,567 g for the RPHA 71. Shoei does not publish the GT-Air 3’s weight on its European spec sheet, so we cannot compare them with official figures.
Integrated intercom: advantage Shoei
The GT-Air 3 is ready for the Sena SRL3, an intercom that sits inside the helmet with nothing on the outside. If you want a clean helmet, that is a plus.
Fastening
The RPHA 71 uses a double-D; the GT-Air 3 a stainless steel micro-ratchet, easier to do up with gloves on.
