Highlighted in orange: the winner of each measurable spec. Manufacturer data.
Philosophy: two approaches
- Arai: hand-made shells with a smooth, rounded shape designed to glance off the tarmac instead of catching.
- Shoei: an AIM fibre shell and four shell sizes so the helmet is well proportioned in every size.
Both are ECE 22.06 approved. Check both on SHARP before you buy.
Weight: advantage Shoei
Shoei claims 1,390 g for the NXR2. Arai does not publish the Quantic’s weight; published reviews put it at around 1.6 kg in size M.
Details
- Pinlock: both include one (120 Max Vision on the Arai, EVO on the Shoei).
- Fastening: the NXR2 uses a micro-ratchet.
