Modular helmet with an AIM shell, three shell sizes, the QSV-2 sun visor and a Pinlock insert included. Built for tourers who stop often or wear glasses.
Why it stands out
A modular (flip-up) helmet has a hinged chin bar: lift it and you can talk, drink or refuel without taking the helmet off. It is the favourite of many tourers and glasses wearers. The Neotec 3 is Shoei’s premium modular and one of the best-known in its class.
Key figures
- ECE 22.06 approval and an AIM multi-composite fibre shell.
- Three shell sizes, so it stays well proportioned.
- QSV-2 sun visor, 5 mm longer than on the previous model.
- Visor with a Pinlock insert included.
- Cheek pads in several thicknesses to tailor the fit to your face.
What to know
A modular always weighs more than a full-face because of the chin bar mechanism. At around 1,880 g in size M according to Shoei, you will notice the difference against a 1,400 g full-face, although on long tours the comfort makes up for it.
Our verdict
If you tour a lot and budget is not an issue, it is the most complete modular you can buy. If you want to spend less, the LS2 Strobe II covers the essentials for far less money.
