Scores by category

Long leather gauntlet with carbon fibre knuckles, a little-finger anti-twist system and EN 13594 Level 1 KP certification. Built for sporty riding.

Why it stands out

The Carbon 4 Long is Dainese’s benchmark sports glove below its race models. What makes the difference is the long cuff: it covers the wrist and part of the forearm and closes over the sleeve of your jacket or leathers, so wind stays out and the glove stays on in a crash.

Protection

  • Carbon fibre knuckles, highly resistant to impact and abrasion.
  • Polyurethane inserts on the finger joints and the palm.
  • Distortion Control (DCP) on the little finger: it links the little and ring fingers to stop the little finger bending backwards, one of the most common crash injuries.
  • EN 13594:2015 Level 1 KP certification.

Our verdict

If you ride a sports bike or ride fast, it is the most protective glove in this comparison. For town or relaxed rides it is overkill: the Alpinestars SP-8 v3 is more practical.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Are the Dainese Carbon 4 Long certified?

Yes: EN 13594:2015 Level 1 KP. Level 1 covers most road gloves and KP means the knuckle protection is certified too. UK law does not require gloves for everyday riding, but you need suitable gloves for CBT and the test.

Are the Dainese Carbon 4 Long waterproof?

No, they have no waterproof membrane. For rain and the shoulder seasons, choose a glove with a membrane such as the Alpinestars Andes v3 Drystar.

Are the Dainese Carbon 4 Long long or short cuff?

Long cuff (gauntlet): they cover the wrist and part of the forearm and close over your sleeve, so no air gets in and they are harder to pull off in a crash.
