Range: Sena wins

The Sena 60S claims up to 2 km between two bikes in Mesh, against 1.6 km for the Cardo Packtalk Edge. These are open-country figures: on real roads both fall short of them, but the Sena keeps its relative advantage.

Battery: Sena wins

Up to 17 hours in Mesh for the Sena, against up to 13 hours for the Cardo. On a full day’s ride with sat nav and music, that difference can decide whether you need to charge at lunch.

Sound: very close

The Sena uses second-generation 40 mm Harman Kardon speakers and the Cardo 40 mm JBL speakers. Both sound very good. The Cardo stands out for volume, the Sena for detail.

Ease of use: Cardo wins

This is where the Cardo fights back:

  • Magnetic Air Mount cradle: clip it on and off with one hand.
  • Very complete voice control.
  • Fewer features and fewer menus, so it is easier to set up.

The Sena has more features (Wave Intercom, Open Mesh, Group Mesh for up to 24 riders…), but needs more time in the app.

Water resistance

The Cardo is rated IP67 and the Sena IPX7. In practice, both cope with heavy rain, which matters in the UK.

Compatibility: the deciding factor

Sena and Cardo Mesh networks are not compatible with each other. If your mates already use one brand, buy that brand. It matters more than any difference in the table.
