Action cameras for motorcycles: the ones we recommend

They film what you see, ready to share: the simplest way to record your rides.

An action camera films in the direction it points, like a normal camera, but it is small, waterproof and has stabilisation that smooths out the bike's vibration. Unlike a 360 camera, the footage comes out ready to watch and share, no editing needed.

What to look for on a bike:

  • Stabilisation: all current models are good; always turn it up to maximum.
  • Battery: on long rides it is what you miss most. Check the claimed minutes and carry a spare.
  • Waterproof without a case: 10 m or more shrugs off any rain.
  • Mounts: the GoPro-style mount is the standard; nearly all are compatible.
  • Low-light image: matters if you ride at dawn, dusk or through tunnels.

Where to mount it? On the helmet chin you get the most natural shot; on your chest, the steadiest; on the handlebar, the easiest to fit.
